Our Story

Roots Coffee & Co. began with a moment that moved us. We were in Cartagena, Colombia when we stepped into a tiny café and ordered two cups of coffee. As the owner poured, the coffee began to leak from the cracked mugs. We told him, "No worries, we'll go somewhere else," but he smiled and insisted we enjoy the beach while he figured it out.

We sat by the water, sun on our faces, watching the waves until he appeared, walking barefoot across the sand, holding two coconuts he had carved by hand and filled with the most delicious coffee we'd ever tasted.

That one act of care, creativity, and generosity caught us off guard in the most beautiful way. It reminded us how powerful small moments can be, and it inspired us to open a coffee shop and bring that exact feeling home to Utah.
